2,700 Gamers Join Manga Castle per day

Manga Castle, a manga-style Facebook social game start up has launched MagicCastle just three weeks ago and is attracting 2,700 gamers each day. If this growth rate were to continue, it would rack over 1 million gamers by the end of 2011.

Guess what, it will probably breakthrough the 1 million gamers figure as co-founder and business development person, Sylvia Yao has something special under her sleeves for 2011. The Singapore based social gaming start-up has gained much buzz last year and we would expect the same in 2011.

The game (product) is unique as it quickly captures the heart of manga lovers. Intuitively, we know there is a strong correlation between manga lovers and gamers. It’s a niche but attractive market to conquer. Plus, we haven’t seen too many manga-style social games on Facebook. An enthusiastic group of gamers coupled with little competition explain why Manga Castle is enjoying a healthy and accelerating growth rate. Apart from external factors, the team also prepared well for its launch.

“We communicate and make our game available through game publishers and manga platforms. Geographically, we put our focus on Asia before moving to the West. We will also be on mobile in the 2nd quarter,” said Sylvia Yao, when asked about her launch plan.

“The quality of our game also ensures gamers return and spread the love. Like any relationship, we hook players in and keep them interested. Magical discoveries, casting spells, taking potions, playing pranks, experiencing the impossible with friends are some features which have helped us spread our game through Facebook,” she added.

Magic Castle is also on the verge to secure more funding. With its impressive user growth rate, we would expect many investors to keep an eye on this start-up. As a Singaporean, I’m excited to witness and share Manga Castle’s development and success. But this is just the start of the race. I’m sure Sylvia and her team know there are still many challenges that lie ahead.
