The man of 500 hats, Dave McClure, will join us at Tech in Asia Tokyo 2015

500 Startups is no stranger to the tech world.

Scratch that – even if you’ve only been lurking around the peripheries of the industry, chances are you wouldn’t need much of an introduction to Dave McClure’s investment shop.

That’s hardly a surprise, given how rapidly the venture capital firm has grown. Dave started 500 Startups with a seemingly unfeasible goal of building a massive portfolio. Five years later, they’ve smashed that target, investing in close to 1000 startups globally. And it doesn’t seem like they’ll be hitting the brakes anytime soon either.

Ever wondered about the method behind the madness? Dave will be sharing an insider’s look at the makings of a venture capital firm, important funding trends, and his own power rankings in a fireside chat at Day 1 (September 8) of our Tokyo conference.

The Silicon Valley based firm is very active out of the US, and has micro funds allocated to various regions in the world including Southeast Asia and Korea. In fact, Dave believes that Japan is one of the best places in the world to build a startup and wants to bring 500 Startups back to Japan soon.

If you are looking to get a headstart on making inroads with the 500 Startups team, be sure to sign up for their Investor Speed Dating session.

Dave McClure will be joining a lineup that includes Bertrand Schmitt, CEO of App Annie, veteran tech journalist and current partner at True Ventures, Om Malik, business icon Tomoko Namba, Ken Suzuki, co-founder and co-CEO of SmartNews, and many others for Tech in Asia Tokyo 2015.

This must-see event is happening on September 8-9, at Shibuya Hikarie. Grab your passes now, and use this special 10% promotion (code: tiatokyo10) to hear from the person behind one of the most exciting companies in venture capital today.
