China is one of the world’s biggest consumers of luxury items. But how are those brands doing online in China? Not well, according to this report (pdf) by Strangeloop Networks. Apparently, luxury brand websites in China average 16.2 seconds load time; only one site made it in below the optimal two-second page load time.
Most brand websites took over ten seconds to load, which is apparently enough time for customers to lose their train of thought altogether. And since we already know even mobile users in China want fast-loading pages, well…some of these brands have got their work cut out for them.
The online market for luxury goods is expected to continue growing quickly, so brands that act fast in optimizing their sites for China may be in a position to cash in. For more details, read Strangeloop’s report in full (pdf).
