Lunch Actually, the startup behind an array of dating apps and services, has raised series A funding, it announced this morning. Japanese social network Mixi and Fatfish Internet Group contributed the undisclosed amount of cash.
Founded by husband and wife team Violet Lim and Jamie Lee from Singapore, the startup runs three dating-related things – Esync, a website for matchmaking; dating consultancy service Lunch Actually; and LunchClick, an app that kills chat and gets people together to talk over a meal. Hook-ups or swiping right are not on the agenda.

The startup has “more than half a million members in its database and has arranged over 70,000 dates, with thousands of successful couples and marriages under its belt” across its online and offline empire, it said today. The crew focuses on Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, and Hong Kong.
Expansion to “one more market” will be fuelled by the new funding.
“We first got to know the team behind the Lunch Actually Group when one of our portfolio companies, Love Out Loud Asia (LOLA), was acquired by them,” said Kin-Wai Lau, CEO at Fatfish Internet Group. That was in late 2014.
