Venture capital firm LiquidX has acquired a 60% stake in Pixelmon, an NFT collection-turned gaming project, after it had taken over the latter’s operations at the end of Q2 2022.
Pixelmon has also announced that it has relaunched with a new leadership team, and it has unveiled a road map for the release of its massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG), which has end-to-end Web3 capabilities.

Pixelmon is planning to launch the MMORPG for NFT holders in Q1 2023, while the game’s release to the wider public will be scheduled for the end of next year.
LiquidX co-founder Giulio Xiloyannis has been appointed CEO of Pixelmon, while Kendrick Wong, the firm’s co-founder and chair, will be an acting advisor.
After the share purchase, Pixelmon founder Martin van Blerk has become a non-controlling shareholder and will have an appointed representative on the firm’s board of directors.
The gaming firm has also expanded its team, which now includes former employees of studios like Riot Games, Ubisoft, Blizzard Entertainment, and Garena. It has even forged external partnerships with other companies, such as BrightNode, Ultra Factory, and Magic Media.
