The Singapore-born company’s CEO and founder Min-Liang Tan announced the move on LinkedIn, though he gave no further information on what positions will be open or the timeline for the hiring spree.

Tech in Asia has reached out to Razer for more information on the matter.

Founded in 2005, the Hong Kong-listed company manufactures gaming and esports peripherals and provides a community for gamers worldwide. In addition to its Singapore headquarters, it also has a base in the US along with 17 offices around the globe.

Tan’s announcement comes after Razer said it expects to hit breakeven for the financial year ended December 31, 2020 on a GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles) basis, compared to an US$83.5 million loss the year before.

The result comes off the back of a “higher than expected” revenue, a gross profit margin gain, and an enhanced operating expenses management.

During the first half of 2020, Razer also said it generated US$64 million from its software unit, representing 14.3% of its revenue for the period. Comprised of Razer Gold and Razer Fintech, the unit’s growth was mainly driven by its expansion of channels and offerings.

Razer also recently made moves to further expand its fintech business, adding “buy now, pay later” services for Southeast Asian merchants through a partnership with fintech firm Rely.
