Korea’s Onda backs Thai hospitality startup to fuel SEA expansion

South Korea-based Onda is looking to accelerate its Southeast Asian expansion plans through its strategic investment into Thailand’s Hoteliers Guru.

Founded in 2013, Hoteliers Guru offers its booking management tech to hotels and resorts across the country. The company, which works with 700 major operators in Thailand, and said it’s seeing continued interest among hotels and resorts in Southeast Asia as tourism reopens.

With the deal, Onda aims to tighten its grip on the region’s hospitality market. It will work with Hoteliers Guru to boost its revenue and create a better guest experience for its partner hotels. Meanwhile, Hoteliers Guru’s partner hotels and resorts will be linked to Onda’s online sales network in South Korea.

Onda also connects hotel owners with global online travel agencies including Google Hotel. The startup’s platform allows hotels to receive online payments from different methods and manage their properties, bookings, inventory, and guests.

The startup has raised roughly US$24 million in funding since its establishment in 2016, according to data from Crunchbase. Onda’s most recent round came this January, when it secured US$10 million in series B funding.
