Apple’s New Hong Kong Store Sold More on Opening Day Than Any Other Apple Store
Last month, Apple opened new Apple stores in Hong Kong and Shanghai. And while we knew that Apple’s commercial endeavors in greater China have been very successful, at today’s iPhone event Apple CEO Tim Cook revealed just how big the Apple Stores here can be.
According to Cook, the Hong Kong Apple store sold more Macs on its opening day than any other Apple store in the world — a pretty impressive stat given that there are hundreds of Apple stores worldwide and they tend to get pretty crowded on opening day!
In fact, Apple is so pleased with their China Apple stores that it gave them premium booking. Almost immediately after Tim Cook took the stage at today’s iPhone event, he spoke about the success of Apple’s China stores, and even showed the crowd a short video (we’ll update this post with an embedded video if/when we can find one). The CEO gushed over the new Hong Kong and Shanghai stores and said there are more on the way. Currently, there are six Apple stores in China (including Hong Kong).
Obviously, we’re not actually at the Apple event this afternoon — it’s a little too far away for us — but we are staying up way past our bedtime to follow it so we’ll have you covered if there’s more Asia-specific Apple news announced today.
