Twitch Pokemon emulator lets thousands of people play the same game at the same time

Dorkly said it first, but here’s an introduction and update.

There are nearly 50,500 people watching and/or trying to play the same game of Pokemon Red on Twitch right now, thanks to an emulator that takes input from chat commands.

Obviously this makes for some pretty difficult (and hilarious) gameplay, especially when you factor in trolls, some of who have created macros to consistently spam the wrong commands.

Still, the combined powers of the Internets have managed to get all the way to Celadon City, after just four whole days of play! Red is now in the Celadon department store, having conquered four gyms.

The game is still on-going, so you can join in the mayhem here.
