CIS captain June posts heartfelt apology to Black after CIS is knocked out of TI4

The first day of TI4 didn’t go that well for Asia’s teams hoping to snatch the final place in the main tournament, as both MVP and CIS were eliminated. Chinese team CIS had a real struggle even getting into the country, so while their loss is not wholly unexpected, it still stings. And just now, CIS player June posted a public apology to the young team’s one veteran—Black—for not performing better.

His Weibo post is long, and a bit stream-of-consciousness—it’s obvious the whole team is taking the loss pretty hard. Our translation:

I truly apologize to Black…after this, he will probably leave the team. We didn’t work hard enough and failed to live up to [his standard]. He really worked hard and he very much wanted to do well at TI4 to prove himself. I really hope he can find a better and more experienced team. We lost this match because we didn’t train; we didn’t work hard enough, this was caused by our laxness. Afterwards, there was some conflict within the team that [I] don’t know how to communicate about or resolve. Actually, I’m not suited to be a team captain. I have not been an effective leader. Sometimes [I] allow some situation with my emotions to affect our training. Only then will Black get so mad. If we were at the Huaxi Village level [where China’s TI4 qualifiers were held], we would not have lost so humiliatingly. I’m very sorry to all the fans who have supported us…actually, I won’t say a few of the reasons…only after losing something do you truly understand treasuring it; luck is only a small part. Only hardworking, resilient people can last until the end! We really let down Black…I hope he will do well on whatever road he takes next. Maybe we will find an experienced [player] and reorganize. So much…I really regret this year’s TI, we just made it to the fringes…losing the match and saying goodbye to The International in this way is such a let-down..but I can only blame myself! All I can say is we’ve learned a lesson. We will definitely remember this year’s painful lesson, and continue to try our best.
