Bangladesh’s mass transit system relies heavily on buses, but commuters often face challenges such as overcrowded vehicles, inconsistent fares, and premium charges. Jatri seeks to address these issues by digitalizing and modernizing the country’s public transportation industry.
With the help of technology, the company provides bus operators and owners with a single dashboard that syncs with all vehicles in the network. It also digitalizes information, streamlines processes, and improves resource allocation.
Jatri currently focuses on incorporating digital payment methods into its services to transform the traditionally cash-reliant industry.
The firm said its platform has processed over 100 million ticket sales as well as prevented theft and leakage, leading to a 15% to 25% increase in daily transactions per bus.
It has recently secured a series A funding round led by SBK Tech Ventures, an impact technology fund focusing on early-stage, tech-platform companies in South Asia, particularly Bangladesh.
