Kampara is a digital care coordination platform, built in Malaysia for Asia. Healthcare today is delivered by many hands but coordinated by none: providers work in isolation from one another, and the burden of connecting them falls on the patient. Kampara solves this. The role

You will be Kampara’s technology leader, joining an executive team whose founders cover regulatory and compliance, clinical governance, operations, security and go-to-market. We have written down, in detail, how we want the platform to work. We need you to take it over: interrogate it, strengthen it and build it, and build the team that ships it.

This is a hands-on executive role at the earliest stage. You will make the foundational architecture decisions, stand up the engineering function, and take a regulated healthcare platform from specification to live pilot with real patients and real clinicians. Timelines will be strict in the early stages, so you will need to mobilise a team quickly and get a working platform ready to deploy at speed. What you build first for Malaysia must scale across Asia, and it must earn the trust of hospitals, insurers and regulators along the way.

One thing we will always be with you is honest, so here is the honest bit. As is normal in a startup, we will navigate rounds of funding on the way up, and job security depends on us either generating revenue quickly or winning over investors in the early stages, until we are self-sufficient. What you will do

• Own the technical vision and architecture. Design and deliver a world class platform on one configurable core, so that each new care journey is an extension of the same engine rather than a rebuild.
• Build privacy and consent in from the ground up. Patient consent, data security and auditability are the product’s foundation, not features. We will build data protection to the highest global standard, so that anyone can use the platform with complete confidence, and it will withstand the scrutiny of hospital, insurer and regulator security teams.
• Ship clinical-grade software. This platform will be used by real patients and clinicians, where reliability is a matter of safety, not convenience. You will set the engineering standard that makes that true.
• Build and lead a team. Recruit, lead and develop the engineering team, shaped by the talent you find. Set a culture of quality, pace and ownership.
• Apply AI where it serves people. Use modern AI pragmatically and safely, in the product and in how the team builds, within the strict boundaries a healthcare platform demands.
• Champion the user. Our benchmark is that an eighty year old patient and her adult daughter can both use the product unaided. You will hold the product to that standard.
• Be the technical face of the company. Represent Kampara with hospital IT and security teams, investors, regulators and partners, and translate technical decisions clearly for non-technical colleagues and stakeholders.

What you will bring

• A track record of building and shipping production software of real quality, ideally a platform or product you are proud to stand behind.
• Depth in modern cloud architecture, data security and product engineering. Experience with regulated or sensitive data is a strong advantage; healthcare and interoperability experience even more so.
• Experience leading engineers, or clear readiness to step up. We care about trajectory and calibre, not years served: strong candidates from top-level companies without ten-plus years of experience are very welcome.
• Resourcefulness and comfort with ambiguity. Startups pivot, priorities change and the right answer is not always obvious. You treat barriers as routing problems, and instinctively look for the way through rather than the reason to stop.
• A genuine user experience mindset. You care how software feels in the hands of the people it serves, not just how it runs.
• Fluency in AI, as a builder and as a product thinker, and a real interest in innovation.
• Communication that carries the room and makes people believe. In one week you might face the board of a national hospital group, Malaysia's Medical Device Authority, a regional insurer's executive committee, and the engineers who need your architecture to make sense. 
• Energy and enthusiasm that matches ours, backed by real proficiency. We work quickly, we hold a high bar, and we get an enormous amount done. You thrive at that pace rather than tolerate it.
• Comfort with the realities of early-stage life, including the funding journey described above. You see it as the normal price of building something big, not a reason to hold back.
• A strong work ethic, ambition and the appetite to go on the journey of building something world class that scales internationally.

Nice to have

• Experience in health technology, digital health or another regulated domain.
• Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards and consent-driven data models.
• Experience of the Southeast Asian market. Bahasa Melayu is a bonus, not a requirement.

Location

This role is based in Kuala Lumpur. Through the build and pilot phases, time on the ground with the founding team, partners, hospitals and early users matters enormously, and it is how the executive team works. The rest of the time you will work from home.
