Temasek affiliates Vertex and Pavilion join Line Ventures to back Warung Pintar with fresh US$4 million funding (Indonesia). The startup – an incubation project of Jakarta-based VC firm East Ventures – develops digitally enabled roadside kiosks (warung, in Indonesian) for micro-entrepreneurs. It recently partnered with Go-Jek’s payments platform Go-Pay to offer cashless payments capabilities to its stallholders.

Since its earlier US$4 million seed round in February, Warung Pintar has set up more than 300 kiosks throughout the Greater Jakarta region. The startup claims that proprietors earn 90 percent more on average than they did before transitioning to a Warung Pintar smart stall. (East Ventures)
