Chaluangco will oversee MDI’s operations, building out its deal flow and investing in startups throughout the region, according to a statement.
As an experienced professional in the VC space, Chaluangco has helped manage funds and investments for a number of firms, including IMJ Investment Partners (now Spiral Ventures), Openspace Ventures, and advisory firm EY.
In 2017, she was investment manager for C31 Ventures, the corporate VC arm of Singapore real estate group CapitaLand, where she made startup investments at series B stage and beyond.
Her appointment at MDI comes as the VC firm begins to expand its global footprint. The company said it is currently raising additional funds from new limited partners beyond Telkom Group throughout Asia.
