Apple to hit $200 Billion in Sales by 2015 [FORECAST]

Apple_black_logoAccording to Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster, Apple could hit $200 billion sales by 2015, the New York Times reported. The forecasted sales figure would be three times more than Apple’s latest 12 months ended sales of $65 billion and 100 times more than Groupon’s annual revenue.

The audacious estimate is heavily based on Apple’s exponential iPhone sales. It was estimated that Apple could sell 185 million units by 2015.

Unlike the desktop/laptop market, Apple’s iOS for iPhone will share a large proportion of the mobile market. Its strongest rival would be Google’s Android operating system.

It was also predicted that BlackBerry and Symbian would face uphill challenges to maintain their market shares, as more people are switching either to the iPhone or Android powered phones. The prediction is intuitively understood as it reflects what has happened in our social circles (at least for me). The choice is usually between an iPhone and Android phone. According to Nielsen’s forecast, smartphone was predicted to dominate by 2011. Apple is currently riding the mobile wave. It isn’t just with the iPhones but also iPods and iPads.

With more iPhones sold, it also increases Apple’s iTunes income and makes iAd more lucrative for advertisers. If Munster’s prediction were to be true, it will place Apple further ahead of Microsoft.
