8 interesting apps at Startup Asia Jakarta Hackathon 2013

Startup Asia Jakarta 2013 was a very busy event for all of us. Besides the two-day conference and the Startup Arena competition, we also held a 24-hour hackathon during the event. Around 200 participants assembled over 30 applications to meet the challenge requirements from 19 sponsors.

After a long hard coding marathon and pitches, the sponsors picked the finalists who will compete for the crown this Saturday. These developers now have time to refine their apps and get the highest possible score for their execution. Here are eight interesting products from the competition:

1. Delivered

Delivered is an Android app which allows users to look for nearby restaurants that offer delivery services. Merchants can also use this app to input their food delivery service for all to see. The app is created by Gilang Chandrasa and Dino Dwiyaksa.

2. Flood system alert app

Jakarta has a government website providing information about flood gates’ water level. The problem is, the information is very hard to find, even when you browse through the site itself. Searching through Google is often a much better option.

The Android app aggregates the flood gate water level information and notifies users when the water reaches a certain level. This is very useful for government and citizens who are on the lookout for possible floods in the Jakarta area.

The app is created by Fariskhi Vidyan and Muhammad Banirahma Syahroni.

3. Stellarion

This is an Opera extension which lets users play space shooter games with levels created from the website they’re looking at. The richer the webpage content is, the harder the game will be. I’d say that playing the game with Tech in Asia’s webpage ought to be quite difficult.

4. Sherlock

This iOS Android app lets users utilize just one password, be it in the form of gesture, voice, or good old text, to access multiple accounts like Facebook, Twitter, and PayPal.
