5 international startups showcasing their tech at TIA Jakarta 2018

Over the past decade, Indonesia’s economy has been steadily growing at an annual growth rate of at least five percent and is forecasted to become the fourth largest economy in the world by 2050 if this trend continues.

The Indonesian government is also making itself more attractive to foreign investors. In 2018, Indonesia moved up 19 spots in World Bank’s Doing Business report, and currently holds the 72nd position globally. The country recorded improvements in multiple categories, including simplifying registration formalities, paying taxes, getting electricity, and trading across borders.

It is no surprise that many foreign companies are looking to set up shop in Indonesia to capitalise on the archipelago’s great market potential. At Tech in Asia Jakarta 2018, international startups will be flying in to exhibit at Startup Factory – here’s five of them you should definitely check out this October 23 & 24.

1) AQUA Drain (South Korea)

 
If you are looking to upgrade your bathroom floor, this will be the ideal startup to check out. AQUA Drain seeks to bring greater comfort to homeowners through their creative and luxurious bathroom floor drainages.

The company employs various technologies to perform different mechanical feats. Their technology Vortex Motion, allows 50 litres of water to be drained in less than a minute. AQUA Drain’s other attributes include being able to automatically open and close the drainage filter, which controls the amount of water being drained out from the bathroom floor, and being able to remove hair and debris easily.

2) The Startup Buddy (Singapore)

 
Setting up a business may not be easy, and here’s when Startup Buddy helps. The company makes startup management easier for founders by giving them the right support tools and expertise.

The Startup Buddy covers support across various aspects of a business’ management – be it financing, legal, analytics, and even pitching. It does so by providing startups with a list of various service providers which arms founders with the appropriate resources for each management aspect.

The Job also matches jobseekers’ profiles to the most appropriate openings based on employers’ descriptions of the ideal candidate, and companies pay only for candidates whom they have engaged.

4) Screea (Taiwan)

 
Screea allows you to earn instant rewards on what you spend, saving you time from sniffing out deals. All you have to do is to scan the Screea QR code at checkout.

The app currently has over 450 merchants on board, and users will be able to score points when they shop either online or offline. The accumulated points can be used for redeeming prizes in-app, or credited as cash into the users’ bank accounts. The Screea app is available on both the iOS App Store and Google Play.

5) Sleek (Singapore)

 
Sleek aims to alleviate the pain of administrative tasks that startup founders are plagued with when setting up a company. It does so by providing support for company incorporation, accounting and tax filing in a smart and secure fashion.

All processes on Sleek go through a seamless automatic system, and personal data are stored on a cloud system spread across three continents. Aside from focusing on providing administrative convenience, Sleek also allows foreign entrepreneurs to set up companies in Singapore without having to travel there.
