International Cosplay Day Singapore: Heroes of the Storm, master cosplayer Kamui, and free entry!

International Cosplay Day Singapore (ICDS) is bigger and better this year. Last year saw it collaborate with Blizzard Entertainment for an official Blizzard-themed cosplay competition, a first for the region. This year, it has linked arms with Asiasoft, the company responsible for serving all your Heroes of the Storm needs in Southeast Asia.

As such, ICDS will be playing host to Singapore’s first public showcase of Heroes of the Storm on August 24 this year. The game will be set out for the public’s viewing and playing pleasure on ten Aftershock laptop demo stations at the convention’s venue, *SCAPE. If you’ve been on the fence about whether you should care about the free-to-play brawler, this will be your chance to try it out.

Asiasoft will also be bringing down the cosplayer Kamui for ICDS. One of the world’s finest costume makers, Kamui has cosplayed many a Blizzard character, and was grand champion of last year’s BlizzCon costume contest. She will be guest judging the cosplay runway and hosting an armor-making panel.

That’s how ICDS will be better. But bigger?

In 2012, International Cosplay Day Singapore was hosted in a less-than-centrally-located school hall. In 2013, it moved into the heart of Singapore’s shopping belt, Orchard Road, but confined its activities to the venue’s auditorium and first floor hallway.

In 2014, ICDS will be taking up three full levels of the *SCAPE mall, and will be filling it with anime, gaming, and manga content.

And in what is probably the best news of all, it’s also going to be free to enter.

Enthusiastic con-goers can avail themselves of the Rare pass, which will cost S$10 ($8). These are limited to 250 passes and will allow expedited entry, access to signing sessions, art and cosplay prints, and a bonus lucky draw chance.

There’s also the Epic pass, which will be limited to just 80. These will cost S$50 (about $40) and provide expedited entry, priority queues to signing sessions, access to Q&A sessions and panels, exclusive prints, preorder allocated of cosplay photographer Jay Tablante’s Geekology 2.0 photo book, and additional lucky draw chances.

And of course, there must be a Legendary pass. Priced at S$100 ($80), the Legendary ICDS pass include everything from the Epic tier, as well as an exclusive studio photography master class with Jay Tablante, with Kamui as the subject. This will take place a day before ICDS, on August 23. More ticketing information can be found here.

International Cosplay Day Singapore, organized by the Neo Tokyo Project, has done nothing but improve on itself with each passing year.
