It is no secret that the battle to be the most prominent MOBA game is a hard fought one. Once upon a time, there were three major players — Warcraft 3 (WC3) DotA, League of Legends (LoL), and Heroes of Newerth (HoN). Though it’s now down to two: Riot’s LoL and Valve’s Dota 2, they’re still pulling in quite impressive numbers as far as this infographic on Twurdy goes.
Here are a few points worth noting about LoL’s presence in Asia:
- Out of the 25 million LoL players on social media, 107,000 players talk about it in 16 different languages everyday. Asian countries include Korea, Philippines, China, Malaysia, and Hong Kong.
- During the Season 3 of the World Championships, there were 4 million viewers watching on TV in China and Korea.
+LoL is the most played PC game in North America and Europe, but has no official records where Asia is concerned. Still, this does not mean that it isn’t big here. In fact, in one of our recent articles, LoL is listed as the number one PC game in Korea for October 2013. It is also China’s most popular PC game for August 2013.
