How Indonesia’s PicMix grew from zero to 15 million users (Startup Asia preview)

picmix

Indonesia is famously known for being one of the world’s biggest users of social networks Facebook, Twitter, and now Path. While Indonesia is definitely a huge market for anyone to be in, it’s about time that the country starts to shift away from just being users and starts being makers.

At Startup Asia Jakarta next week, I’ll be interviewing the founder of photo social network PicMix, which has become one of Indonesia’s biggest social networking apps to date. The app has impressively garnered 15 million users worldwide, with over 225 million photos posted so far. And get this: the startup has not reached its second birthday yet.

I look forward to asking founder Calvin Kizana tough questions about how he did it. Here’s a few topics I’ll explore:

  • The history behind PicMix’s founding.
  • PicMix’s current user breakdown and how Kizana achieved that feat.
  • PicMix’s monetizing strategy and how much revenue the company is making.
  • About the investment made by mobile phone distributor Erajaya, and how it’s helped PicMix’s growth.
  • If there’s expansion plans in store for PicMix.

What’s more fun during this conference is you can ask Kizana your own questions by filling in this form. And do make sure to take part in Startup Asia Jakarta by grabbing your tickets here. We look forward to seeing you there!
