Hi readers,
Persistence always pays off. This was the biggest lesson I learned while creating the Carousell org chart for Tech in Asia.
Org charts are not regular news stories and require a lot of back and forth to validate data. I started with zero information, as I had never tracked the company before. After sending tons of emails, messages, and follow-ups every day, we (finally) convinced sources to talk.
It took us nearly a month to produce the final chart and validate the Carousell hierarchy, which we hope we have done justice to.
Frankly, I’m taken aback by the kind of demand that Carousell is generating for secondhand products in Southeast Asia – a segment that’s still nascent in India, where I’m from.
The company has sold over 70 million items so far and is fast moving toward high-value products such as vehicles and luxury goods.
Armed with US$100 million in funding, and with its sights set on a potential US listing via a SPAC deal, the stage seems to be set for Carousell to make secondhand the first choice for consumers.
