Gogoro, a battery-swapping firm based in Taiwan, has partnered with Indian unicorn Zomato and bank subsidiary Kotak Mahindra Prime to increase electric vehicle adoption among Zomato’s delivery partners.

This partnership is expected to supply 300,000 Zomato delivery drivers with more affordable loan terms to purchase electric two-wheel vehicles and access battery-swapping services at “aggressive pricing,” though specific details haven’t been finalized, a Gogoro spokesperson tells Tech in Asia.

The food delivery firm is looking to fulfill the Climate Group’s EV100 initiative, ensuring that by 2030, 100% of its deliveries will be made with electric vehicles.

To date, Gogoro has 1.1 million smart batteries in circulation across 12,300 battery-swapping stations at over 2,500 locations. The firm, which also offers electric scooters, debuted on the Nasdaq last year at a value of US$2.4 billion. Earlier this week, it announced a B2B partnership with Foodpanda in Singapore.

Meanwhile, Zomato pulled out of Indonesia and the Philippines last month. It also laid off 3% of its headcount in November 2022, though CEO Deepinder Goyal announced over 800 vacancies at the firm two months later.
