Taiwan eSports League is official broadcast partner for Wargaming.net League APAC

The Taiwan eSports League (TeSL) has been announced as Wargaming’s official broadcast partner for 2014’s Wargaming.net League APAC (WGL APAC), and they’re planning to take the region with—you guessed it—tanks.

This year, WGL APAC will be broadcast in five languages to over ten countries. Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Japan, and Australia will be able to watch the live streams in five languages: Chinese, English, Japanese, Thai, and Vietnamese.

This effort, Wargaming says via press release, is also meant to supporting TeSL “to escalate the standards of Asian eSports to greater heights”.

Unfortunately the lack of a Tagalog broadcast means that Wargaming and TeSL are most certainly skimping out on a huge chunk of eSports enthusiasts in Asia. The Philippines have been represented in regional World of Tanks competitions by Mineski’s PvP Superfriends, and it’s surprising that Wargaming has not acknowledged the player base there.

Still, the TeSL is a nearly seven year old company and was the second major professional Starcraft II league in the world. It was also, according to Liquipedia, the first to have live Starcraft II games on national television. Tagalog or no, the games it’s going to produce for WGL APAC are going to be big, and we’re looking forward to that!
