Fidelity-backed Eight Roads Ventures Japan has appointed former Coinbase Japan CEO Nao Kitazawa as its new venture partner. His appointment took effect in April 1.
Kitazawa led Coinbase’s business in Japan since its entry into the market in 2018. Previously, he also served as the COO of Japanese robo advisory firm Money Design.
In a statement, Eight Roads said Kitazawa will “add immense value to the firm’s portfolio,” which currently stands at over 50 companies in Japan. These include fintech firm Paidy, SaaS company Yappli, mobility startup Whill, and data management software provider Cloudian.
The VC firm invests in growth-stage companies in the areas of enterprise tech, fintech, healthcare, and cutting-edge tech. It currently manages US$11 billion in assets across China, India, Japan, the UK, and the US.
Last year, Eight Roads launched a US$350 million fund focused on Chinese tech companies as well as a US$250 million fund for Indian healthcare firms.
