INAICTA (Indonesia ICT Award) 2013 has finally announced the winners. 21 champions from each of the 21 categories were chosen from more than 1,000 participants in the annual competition.
This year INAICTA 2013 was dominated by participants in the games category. Of all the entries in the competition, around 20 percent came from gaming with a total of 206 submissions. Last year, the game category was a part of the Creative and Innovative Media category. Since the INAICTA 2013 committee saw the potential of the games industry in Indonesia, the gaming section stands as a single category clustered into four sub-categories: Games (general), EduGames, AdverGames, and Games (general, university category). 70 percent of the conference topics and workshops underlined the game industry in Indonesia due to a wave of participants’ enthusiasm for the subject.
Here’s the list of game categories winners:
- Games: Own Pet Dragon gives users a virtual pet dragon.
- Games (university category): Spyder’s Web features a secret agent who avoids laser beams.
- EduGames: GameMarbel.com is an online games platform specifically for educational games.
- AdverGames: Cerebrovit Academy simulates the daily activities of Cerebrovit Academy students, such as learning, shopping, etc. Cerebrovit is a multivitamin product.
INAICTA will send the winning teams to participate in APICTA (Asian Pasific Information and Communications Technology Awards) 2013. Last year, Indonesian teams won two awards and five merit awards there.
For the next INAICTA in 2014, the committee will see focus on ICT industries that impact the Indonesian economy most. Andreas Surya, chief committee of INAICTA 2013 says:
We hope to continue the momentum in 2014, promoting ICT sector as a key growth driver for this nation. I think it is safe to say that INAICTA 2014 will focus in several categories of ICT which have maximum impact to Indonesian economy and competitiveness.
The startup category highlighted during the same competition last year has been ditched. For more information about the categories and the winners, you can check them out here.
