Weird virtual world Line Play celebrates first anniversary with 13 million users

Messaging app Line is ending the year with a bang. Not only has Line reached 300 million registered users worldwide this week, today the company revealed that its virtual world game, Line Play, now has 13 million users. The number comes one year after the game launched.
Line Play mixes social media with a life simulator game. It’s a little like a simplified The Sims, but it’s mainly a rip-off of CyberAgent’s Ameba Pigg . Back in March 2013, Line Play had six million users. Now Line Play is being played in 210 countries. Out of 13 million users, 6.8 million of those are outside of Japan.
With this rate of growth, Line expects it to become one of the world’s largest avatar communities.
To celebrate the first anniversary of Line Play, the company will be giving out special Line Play stickers (pictured below) between now and December 25, available for all its gamer for 90 days upon download.

Line Play is available on iOS and Android.
