Champagne, anyone? You can now get a gold HTC One at an ordinary price

After HTC’s silliness with an 18-carat gold HTC One that cost over $4,000, the Taiwanese phone-maker has this time made a gold HTC One at a reasonable price. Of course, this time it’s just a paint job, and there’s not a gram of actual precious metal involved.
Perhaps it would be better to call this new HTC One color “champagne” (pictured above). It lines up alongside the other colors for the same model – silver, black, blue, and red – at the same price. The new color will go on sale initially in Europe, HTC (TPE:2498) says.
The HTC One first hit shelves in March this year and is an important flagship model for the badly struggling company. The gold – I mean, champagne – model might help boost sales up against the iPhone 5S, which has a gold variant that started this gold-rush in the first place.
Rival Samsung has come out with a gold-trimmed Galaxy S4, but that’s been very limited to an unknown number of units selling in the Middle East.
