Dota 2 got updated with its 6.81b patch, and it looks like we need to get used to some changes. 6.81b isn’t so major as to turn the whole meta upside down, but there are a few significant changes in there that may render some heroes more viable, completely unviable, or simply more situational.
Here are some interesting things for this patch.
Lycan’s Howl duration and bonus damage received a nerf, but he isn’t totally useless since Howl is still a global skill. Invoker also received a nerf where his Forged Spirits no longer has 33% magic resistance; Deafening Blast’s disarm can now be dispelled with magic immunity. These two heroes are often picked especially in the Chinese Dota 2 scene, as they are very effective in pushing and getting kills. Yet another favorite, Batrider, received a nerf to Sticky Napalm, with its damage to non-hero units now halved.
The more interesting buffs include Zeus’ Lightning Bolt’s vision and truesight increasing from 3 to 4.5 as well as its search area of effect increasing from 250 to 325. Dewarding, anyone? Earthshaker has also had his turn rate improved, while Echo Slam’s initial damage, Echo Search, and Echo Damage’s area of effect have increased to a consistent 575 on all levels.
The International 2014 Compendium owners can also find updates to their Compendium with the release of the alternate voice vote (page 30), model update vote (page 33), and the daily hero challenge (page 15). The daily hero challenge earns you 25 points if you win a matchmaking game with your assigned hero of the day.
