The internet went into a collective meltdown yesterday after Mark Zuckerberg posted a picture of himself calmly walking down an aisle at the Mobile World Congress. Thousands of attendees dutifully wearing their Gear VR headsets, blissfully unaware to the fact that one of tech’s most recognizable faces was calmly walking right by them.
Zuckerberg himself was a surprise inclusion at the event, organized by Samsung to officially announce their upcoming Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge smartphones.
Some people referred to the photo as “our new overlord marching amongst his plugged in subjects.”
Others called it a “quick glimpse at our dystopian future.”
References to George Orwell, Apple’s iconic Superbowl advert, and The Matrix were not far away.
