13 graduating startups from a Google-funded incubator in Pakistan

Google-funded The Nest I/O, which is based in Karachi, announced the graduation of its second batch of startups a few days ago. There’s a diverse range of companies, from Internet of Things (IoT), recruiting, ecommerce, and social. Here are the startups in more detail.

1. Hireonic

Hireonic is making it easier for organizations to hire technical talent by building a curated list of prospective job applicants. The startup pre-screens all applications to make sure only the best and brightest appear on its portal.

2. MandiExpress

MandiExpress is an ecommerce startup specializing in premium fruits, vegetables, and meat. It claims to have a stringent sourcing process, thereby ensuring only the best produce is delivered. The startup has already locked in a number of enterprise clients, mainly cafes and restaurants, with an eventual push in business-to-consumer (B2C) mooted for later this year.

3. WonderTree

WonderTree builds augmented reality games to help children with disabilities. Their products are designed with the help of psychologists and are aimed to assist learning and development.

4. Rateker

Rateker is an anonymous social network similar to well-funded Whisper. It’s trying to encourage people to give feedback on their peers, either at the workplace, or in institutions such as schools and colleges.

5. RentMyCar

RentMyCar is a marketplace for car rentals. It’s providing transparency to Pakistan’s unscrupulous car rental market, whilst also encouraging individual owners to loan out any extra inventory.

6. Those7Minutes

Those7Minutes is a site which aims to create original, non-news content. It hasn’t launched yet.

7. KheloKricket

KheloKricket is a social network focused solely around cricket. The sport occupies near-mythical status in Pakistan, and the startup is trying to bring amateur players and leagues under one platform. Users can organize tournaments, upload scores, and brag about their exploits with fellow cricketers.

8. Everee

Everee is a discovery app that helps users keep track of the best deals and offers in their city. The app will notify you every time you are in vicinity of a partner brand and send push notifications if there’s a deal on offer. It also works offline through GPS.

9. Inferential-S

Inferential-S is a cybersecurity startup helping provide an extra layer of authentication to important information. Its proprietary software does away with redundant things like passwords, and instead relies on behavioral analysis to determine whether it’s the correct user requesting access.
