Hearthstone is getting an expansion pack, adventure mode and a whole load of other goodies!
Wow, so Hamilton Chu, Executive Producer of producer of Blizzard’s _Hearthstone, decided to spill some inside secrets to Chinese media earlier today. The full interview can be found here, but be warned, it’s in Chinese.
So what does the future hold for Hearthstone?
Adventure Mode
The biggest news is the upcoming inclusion of an “adventurer mode,” which will be coming sometime after the game’s open beta concludes and it is properly released. The mode will include single-player missions and boss fights, and Chu suggests that it will be possible to gain 10-20 new cards while working through these missions.
(On a personal note I think this is a really good step for the game to take, I really enjoy Hearthstone but couldn’t give two hoots about my overall ranking; adding some adventure modes would definitely make things more exciting!)
Expansion packs
After the adventure mode is added, Blizzard is also considering expansion packs that would add additional cards to the game. Chu specifically said 100-200 additional cards is the number the company is looking at right now, but that could easily change.
More rewards for “climbing the ladder”
I guess this pretty much is what it sounds like, but it’s nice to see that Blizzard is continuing to develop and encourage competition.
iPad version is coming.
It’s on its way guys; honestly, it’s coming. But it won’t go live until after the beta is done and the game is launched. Which is a pity because Hearthstone was built for sofa time!
