Augmentus, which offers a no-code robot programming platform for industrial automation, has raised a US$5 million series A funding round.

The Singapore-based company plans to use the funds to grow its operations in the US, Europe, and greater Asia and to meet increasing customer demand across multiple verticals, such as welding, surface treatment, and finishing processes.

In a statement to Tech in Asia, Augmentus said the key objectives of the funding round were to help the firm scale its operations outside of Singapore. To this end, the company said it is setting up an office in the US by the end of the year to support its pipeline of customers in the market.

Founded in 2019 by Daryl Lim, Voon Foo Chong, and Yong Shin Leong, Augmentus aims to make robot programming easier and more accessible to anyone, even those with no robotics experience.

Its platform uses 3D cameras and AI to capture relevant spatial information and generate a suitable path for the robot to move along to perform its task, accounting for complex surfaces and part deviations.

The company said that since it started commercializing its platform a year ago, it now serves more than 30 customers. They include the likes of Hyundai, Johnson & Johnson, and Singaporean engineering firm ST Engineering.

“In 2024, we expect to expand our customer base to 90 and install our system to close to 200 robots,” the company said.

To pursue this growth, the company said it will leverage its Augmentus System Partner program – which it set up to work with system integrators and solution providers and build robot stations with them.

The program mainly targets companies in the manufacturing sector and also offers reseller discounts for these partners.
