In brief: Ride-hailing upstart Tada combines private cars and taxis

Beginning next Tuesday, riders of Singaporean ride-hailing service Tada will be able to enjoy faster matching at the same fair fares with AnyTada.

The introduction of AnyTada comes after approval from the city-state’s Public Transport Council and Land Transport Authority to roll out flat fares for taxis with Premier Taxi.

Similar to Grab’s JustGrab feature, AnyTada allows users to hail the closest Tada vehicle to them, whether it’s a private-hire car or a licensed taxi operated by partner organization Premier Taxi. Users will be able to see their AnyTada fare – not inclusive of costs like tolls, congestion charges, or surcharges for additional stops and child booster seats –  upfront before requesting a ride.

Users of the app – which is developed by blockchain startup MVL – will also be able to opt for metered fares or dynamically priced private-hire cars, which are already available through the app.

Previously, Tada riders had to make the choice between private cars and taxis prior to hailing a ride.

As of last November, Tada had signed up nearly 2,000 taxi drivers to its platform from firms including Comfort DelGro, Premier, SMRT, and Transcab.
