Indian logistics automation firm Unbox Robotics said it raised US$1.2 million as part of its pre-series A round of funding.

Beenext, Ubiquity founder Karthik Bhat, WEH Ventures, and Info Edge-backed Redstart Labs participated in the round alongside existing backers Arali Ventures, SOSV (and its accelerator HAX), and Entrepreneur First.

Unbox Robotics offers “software-defined” robotics solutions that help logistics players sort and ship orders. The company claims its technology can reduce warehouse area by up to 70%, increase personnel productivity by 3x, and reduce capital expenditure by 40%.

With the surge in ecommerce over the past few years, Unbox Robotics CEO Pramod Ghadge says the logistics industry needs to handle roughly twice the load they currently process.

The automation firm plans to use the fresh funds to help onboard new clients and develop its platform. “Currently, we are closely working with six ecommerce and logistics enterprises in India, Southeast Asia, and the US to deploy our solution in the next twelve months and earn seven-figure revenue figures,” Ghadge added.

Unbox Robotics was formed in 2019, and earlier this year, it joined the first cohort of ecommerce giant Flipkart’s accelerator program Flipkart Leap, which was launched in August 2020.
