Google introduces Bard in a battle with ChatGPT

Google has swiftly introduced Bard, its competitor to ChatGPT.

In a blog post, Google boss Sundar Pichai said that “Bard seeks to combine the breadth of the world’s knowledge with the power, intelligence, and creativity of our large language models” to provide “fresh, high-quality responses.”

Bard is based on the firm’s conversational neural language model group LaMDA (Language Model for Dialog Applications). For this testing phase, Bard’s initial release will be based on a lighter version of LaMDA.

In March, Google will onboard developers, creators, and enterprises to try out its Generative Language API to help them build scalable AI-driven products. The company also said that users will soon see AI-powered features in Search.

The unexpected global attention on Microsoft-backed ChatGPT has set off an AI race among the biggest names in tech. China’s Baidu said it could release its own ChatGPT-style bot called Ernie as early as March, Reuters reported.
