Gojek-backer Astra pours $5m into Indonesian produce marketplace Sayurbox
“Gojek-backer Astra International has invested US$5 million in online produce marketplace Sayurbox earlier this year,” Investor Indonesia reported.
Details:
- Astra served as the lead investor in the funding round.
- The company also led the recent US$80 million series C round of healthtech firm Halodoc, alongside other backers Temasek, Singtel Innov8, and Bangkok Bank.
Context:
- The report comes as Astra posts a net profit of 3.72 trillion rupiah (US$256.2 million) for the first quarter of the year, down 22% compared to 4.81 trillion rupiah (US$331.2 million) for the same period last year.
- Astra’s president director Djony Bunarto Tjondro also recently said that the company’s business has slowly been improving over the last few months, but that there’s still uncertainty regarding company performance for 2021 as a whole due to Covid-19.
