Gojek chief to quit executive roles, join GoTo board of commissioners
Indonesia’s GoTo group – the merger of Gojek and Tokopedia – said Kevin Aluwi, CEO of Gojek and director of GoTo, will transition to a non-executive role on the latter’s board of commissioners. GoTo Group CEO Andre Soelistyo will take up Aluwi’s previous roles in the firm, pending approval from shareholders.

Aluwi will replace Google veteran Caesar Sengupta on the board as the latter turns his focus toward his own company, Arbo Works. Sengupta will continue as a commissioner at GoTo Financial.
Aluwi will also continue to work with Gojek’s electric vehicle arm as a commissioner at Electrum – a joint venture between Gojek and TBS Energi Utama. Electrum aims to build an Indonesian electric-vehicle ecosystem that will help Gojek reach its goal of zero emissions by 2030.
The Gojek co-founder’s transition will occur after shareholders approve the change at the group’s annual general meeting on June 28.
“After almost a decade of leading Gojek, I feel that the time is right for me to move to a less day-to-day role. As a member of the Board of Commissioners, I will continue to be involved at a strategic level with GoTo management and also have more time to explore my personal interests within the technology space,” Aluwi said. He added that he would be more involved in areas of Web3, gaming, and climate tech.

Aluwi established Gojek in 2010 along with Nadiem Makarim, Indonesia’s current minister of culture and education. Aluwi has also worked at Zalora Indonesia as head of business intelligence and at US-based Salem Partners as an analyst.
