Iām Markus Bihler, CEO and co-founder of HappyFresh. Ask me anything!

Hi TIA Community,
I am Markus Bihler, Co-Founder and CEO of HappyFresh. I am currently based in Jakarta, Indonesia where I run HappyFresh, an online grocery & foodtech company that has presence across 5 countries in Southeast Asia including Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan and the Philippines. I live and manage my business out of my suitcase so that I get to know each market properly.
Prior to entering the online grocery world, I was with a Germany-based online car tyre retailer called Triendo (today, it is part of the Frankfurt-listed Delticom AG). I was also a private equity investor with Blackstone and EQT Partners and a consultant with BCG(Boston Consulting Group).
In my free time, I enjoy playing outdoor sports, mountaineering and exploring the limits of life.
Feel free to ask me anything. Here are some things you can ask me:
- Challenges of being the pioneer in the online grocery industry
- Changing decade-old consumer behaviours and habits and unlocking customer insights
- Building a pan-regional player without hypergrowth by focusing on the right things
- Leadership and management challenges e.g. decision making in a start-up company
- Personal development and the importance of lifelong learning and coaching
Here are some fun things you can ask me:
- Which mountains I have climbed and conquered?
- What is my favorite local food in Indonesia?
- If I could retire tomorrow, what would I do?
- What was the biggest challenge in my life (outside work)?
- What are the strangest things I have in my apartment?
Ask away!
