GitHub rival Entire launches code hosting in Singapore

Entire, the developer tools startup founded by former GitHub CEO Thomas Dohmke, has launched code hosting in Singapore, allowing companies to store their source code and AI coding sessions in the city-state.
Singapore is Entire’s first hosting region in Southeast Asia, joining its regions in the US, UK, European Union (EU), India, and Australia. The startup rolled out its developer platform earlier this week.
Entire competes with GitHub in hosting Git repositories, which store and track changes to code. GitHub Enterprise Cloud offers data residency in four regions: the US, EU, Australia, and Japan. Singapore isn’t currently one of them.
Entire’s platform also saves the prompts and agent sessions behind the code changes, giving teams a record of how their software was built. The startup raised US$60 million in seed funding at a US$300 million valuation in February.
In an email to Tech in Asia, Dohmke says the Singapore launch addresses two needs: developers seeking faster access to code repositories as they run more AI agents, and organizations wanting control over where their code is kept.

He sees Singapore an “early priority,” citing its concentration of developers and regional engineering hubs. He also pointed out that developers across Singapore and Southeast Asia are already building on Entire, and local hosting opens the platform to organizations with data residency requirements.
In Singapore, organizations across sectors including logistics, financial services, and advanced manufacturing, have had to wait “far too long for a sovereign hosting solution,” Dohmke says. However, he didn’t name a customer that had requested Singapore hosting or identify a specific regulation driving the expansion.
Choosing Singapore keeps a company’s repository data in the country, Dohmke notes. That covers the code’s full change history, commit messages, author information, and checkpoints, saving the prompts and agent sessions behind each change.
Each code-hosting region runs its own copy of the platform and serves the repositories stored there. Entire’s published architecture describes a region as a data-residency boundary: Repositories stay in their creation region unless users explicitly replicate them elsewhere.
Developers can host repositories directly on Entire, or keep GitHub as their main host and mirror them to Singapore. In the mirrored setup, developers and agents retrieve code from the Singapore copy, but updates still go back to GitHub. As such, the primary copy stays with GitHub.
Repositories hosted directly on Entire don’t depend on GitHub, which Dohmke says allows teams to continue working during a GitHub outage.
