Peak XV’s Surge leads $7m round in Indian AI-powered sales startup

AI is expected to change many businesses, but for some verticals, the solutions are less clear-cut. Enterprise sales, for instance, involves selling over long periods and dealing with many different people – not necessarily an obvious recipe for automation.

At the same time, this complexity may provide an opportunity for AI-based software. While the human touch remains crucial, salespeople can benefit from tools that help them deal with a glut of data, research reports, and fragmented tools.

AI-driven sales enablement startups like OrbitShift aim to tackle this challenge. The company has raised US$7 million in seed funding, led by Peak XV Partners’ Surge and Stellaris Venture Partners.

Founded in India a year ago, OrbitShift aims to streamline research and planning tasks, helping sales and marketing teams reduce sales cycles. Its suite of products – namely accountOS, rfpOS, and pitchOS – uses AI to deliver insights into accounts, automate responses to RFPs and RFIs, and generate custom pitch content, respectively.

“Our AI-first, domain-centric approach has already empowered over 10 global companies, significantly enhancing their sales and marketing engine,” Saurabh Mishra, OrbitShift’s co-founder and CEO, said in a statement, though he did not disclose the companies.

The new funding will be used to enhance OrbitShift’s platform with additional AI capabilities. Previously, the company raised US$1.5 million in a pre-seed round, bringing its total funding to US$8.5 million.

OrbitShift isn’t the only Indian startup in this space. In April, SiftHub raised US$5.5 million from Matrix Partners India and Blume Ventures to build an AI-powered sales knowledge hub.
