Have some Korean Dota this weekend as the Nexon Sponsorship League’s round of 16 begins on September 28
Things are looking up for emerging Dota scenes and communities throughout Asia.
Just recently we brought news of of Tt eSports sponsoring Southern Cross Dota’s tournament, Tide’s Wrath for Australia, New Zealand, and neighboring territories.
This weekend, fans looking to watch some Korean Dota action can satisfy their craving, as the Nexon Sponsorship League’s round of 16 kicks off on September 28.
Spanning three seasons, the Nexon Sponsorship League is intended to pave the way for amateur gamers looking to participate competitively, as well as lay the groundwork for Dota to receive recognition as an eSport in Korea.
About one month ago, Nexon announced the Nexon Sponsorship League, just a few weeks after The International 2013 (TI3) concluded. Winning teams will receive assistance in securing sponsorships and will qualify to participate in Dota 2 tournaments overseas. Airfare, accommodation, and equipment will all be provided.
Earlier today, the in-game ticket for the Nexon Sponsorship League was added to the Dota 2 store. According to the in-game Dota 2 events calendar, the matches will be held every Saturday and Tuesday of the week. For $12.99, the ticket includes an adorable in-game white tiger courier named Baekho. Here are a few in-game screenshots of the feline courier:
