South Korean mobile game giant Gamevil has acquired Waplesoft, a South Korean mobile game studio, for an undisclosed sum. The six-year-old studio is known for its social network games and RPGs.
In a press release, Gamevil states that its publishing experience combined with Waplesoft’s development talent has strengthened its position in the global market.
The first game resulting from this acquisition, Elune Saga, was soft-launched in several Asian territories last week. Elune Saga is a mobile card battle-RPG hybrid similar to Com2Us’ Summoners War and is currently only available for Android.
Gamevil has seen an increasingly warm reception to its games outside of Korea. The company recently set up a Singapore office to facilitate localization and live support.
Gamevil is a South Korean mobile game developer and publisher with over 400 million game downloads. It was established in 2000.
