Bondee, which calls itself a next-generation social platform, has appointed industry veteran Fei Yu as its new CEO.
In a media statement, the company said Fei will oversee Bondee’s global expansion and the development of new features and products, including an updated version of its app.
“Bondee’s mission to inspire real-world discovery and bring enjoyment through exploration resonates deeply with me,” Yu said.
Over the past two decades, Yu held key senior roles at Meta, Google, and Microsoft. Before joining Bondee, she was Meta’s head of gaming for Asian markets.
A product of Singapore-based Metadream, Bondee was launched in January 2023 and quickly gained popularity in Asia. At one point, it racked up roughly 4 million weekly active users.
The app allows users to interact with each other through creatively designed avatars in a metaverse environment.
Bondee’s upcoming version will tap into the latest technologies to offer users more options for creative expression, the company said.
An analysis published by Tech in Asia in February, however, found that Bondee’s popularity is on the decline while its monetization path isn’t clear.
