Nintendo’s cranking out some big Donkey Kong news

Last week a leaked picture showed that Cranky Kong would be a playable character in Nintendo’s upcoming Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze for the Wii U. In response, Nintendo America sent its President and COO, Reggie Fils-Aime, to talk about the upcoming game on Spike’s VGX online show.

It was here that Mr. Fils-Aime confirmed that Cranky Kong would be one of the playable characters, and went on to announce the February 21, 2014 release date. The interview is kind of awkward, but certainly worth watching as they play through 2 levels from Tropical Freeze and show off Cranky Kong’s special abilities.

Personally, I think the game looks great and I’m genuinely excited for Nintendo’s 2014 lineup.
