Freelancer.sg launches in Singapore

Freelancer.com, a global outsourcing and crowdsourcing marketplace, has launched its newest country site, Freelancer Singapore, on 13th February. The site supports transactions in local currency.

CEO Matt Barrie has revealed that almost 15,000 SMEs and individuals in Singapore have spent over US1M through the site. He expects the figure to grow with the launch of the Singapore site.

“We launched Freelancer.sg so local entrepreneurs and SMEs could replicate Singapore’s success on a global scale; achieve amazing results irrespective of size. This country has a knack for overachievement,” he said.

The site allows Singapore small businesses to hire over three million freelancers from around the world, in areas like software, writing, data entry, design, to engineering and the sciences, sales & marketing, and accounting & legal services. The company claims that a typical job costs under US$200.

Within Asia, the company has launched country sites in the Philippines, India, Hong Kong, New Zealand, and Australia.
