Freedom Wars: it’s survival of the fittest for Japanese speakers this June 26

Playstation Vita exclusive Freedom Wars will be out in Japanese this June 26, with a Traditional Chinese edition to follow in August. The physical game will cost S$69.90 ($55.70) at launch, while a digital edition will set you back S$62.90 (about $50).

Freedom Wars is a third-person shooter set in the far-flung future, where the earth’s surface is no longer able to support human life. As a result, all remaining humans have fled underground into cities call Panopticon, where the population is skyrocketing to disastrous results.

In order to stretch resources out, anyone who commits even the lightest of crimes is sent into the overworld to do battle with the alien monstrosities that now stalk Earth. Each “criminal” also has a sentence of a million years, and each alien Abductor defeat reduces the sentence. Freedom Wars also features a “city-state war mode”, where players can represent their Panopticon and fight to conquer others and collect valuable resources.

Four sets of exclusive DLC will be included in the physical Japanese edition, and can be downloaded during the first month after launch on the Playstation store. The downloadable content includes a limited edition formal wear costume, heavy melee and rocket launcher weapons, a limited sticker set, and a “great recovery” battle item set.

No word has been given on an English edition of Freedom Wars.
