For frequent travelers, staying connected across multiple countries can be troublesome. But embedded SIM (eSIM) cards, which allow users to activate a mobile plan without having to use a physical SIM, is changing that: Valued at US$4.7 billion in 2023, the eSIM market size is expected to soar to US$16.3 billion by 2027.

Airalo, a Singapore-headquartered eSIM marketplace, is poised to take advantage. Less than a year after raising a US$60 million series B round, the company has now exceeded the 10 million user mark, it said in a statement.

Airalo, which claims to be the world’s first and largest eSIM marketplace, also announced a new B2B and B2B2C platform dubbed Airalo Partners, which lets travel agents, resellers, and other corporates distribute eSIMs.

Launched in 2019 by Ahmet Bahadir Ozdemir and Abraham Burak, Airalo offers eSIMs for travelers in over 230 countries, while providing services in 53 languages. Its backers include Peak XV Partners – which counts Airalo as a past participant in its Surge program – as well as Rakuten Ventures, Antler, and SingTel Innov8.

Airalo also said that it has over 5,000 partners for its existing partner offerings, Airalo Partner API and Airalo Affiliate Program. While headquartered in Singapore, the company is incorporated in the US state of Delaware, with hubs in Istanbul and Toronto.
