Fintech unicorn Airwallex eyes $3.5b valuation in new funding round
“Airwallex is raising new funding to accelerate its expansion in global payments,” reported Bloomberg, citing sources.
Details:
- Founded in Australia and based in Hong Kong, the cross-border payment platform is looking at a valuation of between US$3.5 billion to US$4 billion following its latest round.
- This comes after the firm, which has numerous Chinese clients, raised US$100 million in a Greenoaks-led series D extension round in March, bumping its valuation to US$2.6 billion

- In July, Airwallex raised US$200 million for its own venture capital fund, Capital 49. The firm has already invested in two fintech firms through the fund.
- Airwallex reached unicorn status in 2019 after raising US$100 million in a series C round.
