Ex-Meta director backs $550k round of teacher upskilling startup

Founded in Singapore in 2019, Akadasia offers three main products: skillED, designED, and collabED. These solutions provide educators with professional development courses, digital tools to design lessons, and access to a network of teachers, respectively.

The company said that about 160,000 teachers in 36 countries use its services, with 90% of its business generated from business-to-business and business-to-government partners.

The injection of capital will be used to fuel the company’s growth in new markets like Indonesia, Vietnam, and India plus develop a new service called “certifyED,” which will allow education institutions to digitize their certification systems on the blockchain.

Akadasia’s latest raise comes after its participation in the third cohort of EduSpaze, which saw eight companies selected from 230 applicants across 31 countries.

Other investors in the round include:

  • 6th Horizon
  • SuperCharger Ventures
  • Some angel investors
