BandLab, a music firm based in Singapore, has acquired Airbit, a US-headquartered beat marketplace. The financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
Following the acquisition, Airbit CEO Wasim Khamlichi will step down after a transition period. BandLab will also retain Airbit’s current employees.
Airbit’s features will be integrated into BandLab’s creator platform soon. These capabilities will expand BandLab’s creator toolset for artists and access to music creation, promotion, and distribution, the company said in a statement.
BandLab claims that artists have earned more than US$50 million on Airbit, with over 2 million beats sold. It joins other music companies acquired by BandLab, including Cakewalk and ReverbNation.
